In response to comments Councillors have received from some residents, you may have noticed that the piece of land between the Tanner’s Lane Car park and West Street has become derelict and overgrown.
What happened was that a few years ago, the area was seeded with wild flowers and for a while looked lovely. Such seeds are sold sterile though so the following year nothing came up and the area went from delightful to dismal. Further planting would have involved more ground preparation and re-seeding and the expertise and funds were not available.
The Town Council has asked Waverley, who maintain the area, to cut back the overgrowth. They have agreed to do this, so it will look smarter soon.
