The new flagpole which will form such an important part of the St Christopher’s WW1 centenary commemoration, arrived on site yesterday.
The old one rotted away and was removed and the new one has been made by local firm J.E Homewood.
The Town Council contributed £1,000 to the project.
It’s Douglas fir, 35 foot long and weighs 1,000 Kg (a ton). The original arts & crafts cross, made of iron, will be placed on top having been coloured gold to shine out across St Christopher’s Green.
A massive crane will arrive on Tuesday 10th April at 10.00 am to hoist it in place.
