Haslemere’s Mayor 2017-09-12T15:18:10+01:00
The Mayor is elected by all Councillors each year, usually in May, from amongst their number.
The lady or gentleman holds the post for one year.
At the same time a Deputy Mayor is chosen – who very often becomes Mayor the following year.
The Mayor carries out ceremonial duties and is an ambassador for Haslemere.
He or she represents the town at sports, charitable and community events – amongst others, and will often attend hundreds of engagements during their period of office.
The Mayor chairs meetings of the Full Council (i.e.: all-member meetings) but cannot make decisions about Council business.
