As well as the General Election on 8th June, there were also by-elections for three vacant seats on Haslemere Town Council.
Two seats were for Haslemere South and one was for Hindhead.
Hindhead
Hindhead was contested by an Independent, a Conservative and a Liberal Democrat.
Alex Ford, the Conservative candidate, was the winner by a substantial majority.
But the By-Election results were a lot closer in Haslemere South.
Haslemere South
Two Conservative, two Independent and one Labour candidate stood for election.
The result was that one Tory : Simon Dear [editor of Haslemere Today]
– and one Independent : Nikki Barton – were successfully elected.
